Why I Chose Safety

 Hello, and welcome back to another blog of mine! For this blog I just wanted to tell everyone why I chose to work in safety and why this was the best decision for me! Construction has been apart of my family for years and that is one of the biggest reasons on why I chose to work in safety. Basically, I wanted the chance to be on construction sites without having to go through traditional trade school. Once I found out about Safety Management I instantly fell in love because I knew that this was best for me and I know have the chance to do what I love and do it at a place I really respect. Also, with safety I keep people safe and make sure they make it back home to their families and that is why I really love what I do! Thank you so much for joining in on another blog!

How OSHA Was Founded

 Safety wasn't always a concern for people on construction sites back in the day, but when studies started to show how many people were being killed on these job sites their were changes made. First off, OSHA is short for Occupational Safety and Health and it was created to make sure all workers are safe on their respected job sites. OSHA was founded in 1971 and was put forth by President Nixon. Since OSHA was created the number of deaths on a job site are at 250 deaths a year with less then 1,500 injuries. OSHA is a huge part of keeping employees safe and without them many workers would be at risk.

Types Of Safety

 Blog Post 2: October 21st, 2021 Welcome back everyone and I hope everyone is having a great day so far. During blog number two I am going to talk about the different types of safety in jobs. To start, their is not just one base form of safety in the world and with each job there comes different standards to make sure all employees stay safe and protected. For example, in construction the base standard is 1926 and that covers 27 subparts throughout the section while in general industry the main standard is 1910 which covers 20 subparts throughout it's section. Basically, safety is such a huge thing in this world and it is very much needed everywhere to make sure people do what they should be doing to stay safe. A world without safety managers would make it a dangerous one and many people would not make it back to their families if they wanted to just do it "their way". Blog Post 1: October 19th, 2021 Hello, my name is Logan Persinger and I am currently a Sophomore at Slippery Rock University to pursue  my career in Safety Management. For my first blog I will tell you a little about myself and about Safety Management. I grew up loving construction and my views on that never changed, so when I found out that there was a major that fir my preferences I quickly jumped on it and have not regretted it one bit. Safety is always changing in this world and I just am so glad that I have the chance to be apart of it and to make sure all workers stay safe while doing their jobs. The job of a Safety Manager is to ensure the safety to all employees and the public in a workplace and they work daily to come up with strategies to make sure all aspects of your jobsite are safe.
